Research progress of postoperative cognitive dysfunction in cardiac surgery under cardiopulmonary bypass

چکیده

Abstract Cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) is often used in cardiothoracic surgery because its nonphysiological state causes pathophysiological changes the body, causing multiorgan and multitissue damage to varying degrees. Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) a common central nervous system complication after cardiac surgery. The etiology mechanism of POCD are not clear. Neuroinflammation, brain mitochondrial dysfunction, cerebral embolism, ischemia, hypoxia, other factors related pathogenesis POCD. There close relationship between CPB POCD, as can cause inflammation, hypoxia reperfusion injury, microemboli formation, all which trigger increases medical costs, seriously affects patients' quality life, mortality. Currently, there lack effective treatment methods for Commonly include preoperative health management, reducing inflammation response during surgery, preventing implementing individualized rehabilitation programs Strengthening preventive measures minimize occurrence adverse effects.

P147: Postoperative Cognitive Dysfunction and Neuroinflammation Associated with Cardiac Surgery

One of the incapacitating postoperative morbidities that was seen in all types of surgery is Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD). The elder patients and also cardiac surgery patients (CSPs) are at particular risk. Additionally it was shown that the severity, extension of impairment and the incidence rate of POCD is more in CSPs. POCD is a dementia-like symptoms disorder is characterized ...

Postoperative Pulmonary Dysfunction in Adults after Cardiac Surgery with Cardiopulmonary Bypass: Clinical Significance

Postoperative pulmonary complications are the most frequent and significant contributor to morbidity, mortality, and costs associated with hospitalization. Interestingly, despite the prevalence of these complications in cardiac surgical patients, recognition, diagnosis, and management of this problem vary widely. In addition, little information is available on the continuum between routine post...

Postoperative cognitive dysfunction after cardiac surgery.

Postoperative cognitive dysfunction is frequent in cardiac surgeries leading to major consequences. The physiopathological processes involved in this condition are still not completely elucidated, despite the multifactor character. Besides pre-operative factors such as age and education, some intra-operative factors are also of extreme importance. However, according to a vast literature on the ...

Postoperative cognitive dysfunction after cardiac surgery

Postoperative cognitive dysfunction (POCD) remains a serious complication with increasing importance. Cerebral dysfunction after surgery presents as stroke, delirium, or POCD. POCD is the post-operative disturbance of memory, and speed of information processing. The incidence of POCD is dependent on the type of procedure. The highest incidence of POCD occurs in patients undergoing cardiac surge...

Assessing postoperative cognitive change after cardiopulmonary bypass surgery.

Cognitive decline after cardiopulmonary bypass (CPB) surgery has been a concern since the advent of CPB procedures. A primary focus of many studies on this topic has been to quantify the incidence of post-CPB cognitive impairment. However, studies that have used traditional parametric statistics have generally failed to confirm that long-lasting (> or = 1 month) cognitive declines occur reliabl...
